MyTransUnion is a credit bureau which collects information from credit providers (MTN or service providers, Game or retail stores, FNB or banks, etc.) about credit active consumers (anyone who has a credit card, a loan, hire purchase contracts, etc.) on a monthly basis.
They provide south africans with yearly access to their free credit reports in pdf format (download Adobe PDF reader free).
Quick and Easy
MyTransUnion will present you with a series of multiple choice questions in the sign up process that is applicable to you and your accounts. These multiple choice questions are fairly quick and easy because of this. Just make sure to be entirely honest because if you are not, you won’t be able to access your credit report.
No Negative Impact
Checking your credit report via MytransUnion will in no way effect your report in a negative way. It does not get added to your credit report like other views from an estate agent or an employer checking your credit record.
Checking your free credit report can only have a positive effect for you and is extremely beneficial as you will see below:
• provides great insight into your debt ratings with financial instutitions such as banks.
• provides you with detailed information about all your debt,
• who has viewed your profile,
• how much you still owe
• and much more.
Improve your Credit Rating
This also gives you an opportunity to improve your credit rating which in turn will give you access to better interest rates on future loans, bigger loans and might even enable you to lower your current interest rates on your debt!
You will be able to challenge the information on your credit report to keep this document up to date with accurate and correct information. (you will need to fax copy of your green bar-coded Identity Document and proof of address within 5 working days for anything you would like to update on your credit report to 011 388 4193 – Don’t forget to include your Transunion reference number on all the documents)
