After 6 visits to FNB to try and link my Absa Cheque account to Paypal – with no success – I asked the FNB consultant to just open an account at FNB for me and get it over with. I explained to him that I needed to withdraw my money from PayPal urgently. He opened a Savings Account for me.
When I was filling in that Link Up form I noticed that there was a section which reads:
“Current Non-FNB Account Details – This account must be your own account”. Why does it say Non-FNB Account when I do have an account?
Then, after I’ve entered my Card Number details, I get the following message:
Your Paypal Account Status Is Unverified. Please Login To Www.paypal.com To Get Verified.
Error code: 8062
Ref: VODS8X85D1CF

Hi Dawn,
Any credit card can be linked to PayPal so I suspect that was the issue you were experiencing with your cheque card from ABSA.
I am not 100% sure about this, but I think you need an FNB cheque account to withdraw your money from PayPal. You should also be able to do this without an account.
