When applying for a Payoneer card, do I need any bank card linked to actually receive payment and if not, would the foreign currency be transferred as-is to the card that I can use, and use it without converting to Rand?

You actually receive a card that can be used at any ATM worldwide.
The money is either stored as USD or Euro (Your choice) and gets converted to the currency of the country in which you are withdrawing.
