Hi Kurt, Great blog! Have learnt quite a bit on here. You’re really doing a good job.
My question is with regard to shipping to South Africa once you’ve bought something online: This is will be my first time ordering online (I’ll be ordering from Amazon) and just wanted some advice in regarding customs. I’ve heard it can be quite a nightmare – taking long and/ or high charges. That’s when I heard of Aramex Global Shopper (I’m sure you’ve heard of it). They have good reviews from South Africans – in terms of getting your items here quickly, however, I’m worried about their high shipping costs and not sure how they handle customs. So I’m not sure if I should use Aramex or just do it the normal way.
You’re help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,Sindiswa

Hi Sindiswa,
Thank you for the compliment. I have not heard much about Aramex Global shoppers. What I would recommend is that you contact them and ask them how they handle customs. Customs fees will vary depending on what kind of goods you are purchasing and how much they cost. Normally they require you to show them a bank statement or invoice and charge you a percentage of the total. The Duties page on the SARS website will give you more information. You should take both shipping and customs charges into consideration when considering which route to take. I hope this helps you.
